When we started with the idea of building “Vishram”, we were looking out for someone who is deeply creative, passionate about architecture, responsive & customer focused, flexible & open for co-creation and willing to take end to end ownership of design and construction. We were lucky to get all these attributes in Vikrant Panse and his team.

Creative: The creative process and approach used by Vikrant was very fascinating right from sharing concepts, understanding our requirements, keeping it iterative, and constantly adding value by generating great ideas. The vision was to create space which has a character and life of its own. Every minute aspects of design were given equal importance, and the complete process was very organic, as-in not everything was planned from the beginning and lot of the finer designs and detailing were developed as the space started building up. Equal importance was given to the stability and utilities planning as much as the aesthetic aspect of the building.

Passion: Vikrant and his team are extremely passionate about their work and very committed to the design and legacy that they want to create for themselves. So, every aspect of their work is seen as an opportunity to add value and create something which is unique and well thought off. There is a relentless pursuit on ensuring that you do not compromise of any aspect of the design come what may and a mindset that strives to ensure we get the best from any situation.

Responsive: In the past 4 years that we have been working on this project, 2 years for planning and 2 years in execution, we would have met around 70/80 times and Vikrant always showed up on time without exception. Vikrant and our contractor Avinash Punde together have a very strong commitment to work ethics. They have never said no to our requirements and at the same time guided us in the right direction when it comes to taking the right decisions on design as well as materials being used. A special call out for Saurabh Gorivale who is part of Vikrant’s team and Sandeep Ingle from Avinash’s team, who were important contributor for this project.

Flexible: Building a house is an engrossing activity and we always wanted to be deeply involved in the complete creative and execution process and in Vikrant, we found a true partner who was not only open for our suggestions and but also took an extra effort to ensure we were fully involved in the creative process. We were very clear, that the final call will be his however we saw him open to taking our suggestions and incorporating those into the design where it made sense. This organic process of co-creation was highly symbiotic and at the same time very fulfilling when we see the outcome.

Full ownership: Vikrant took the complete bottom-line for the project and I could observe the solid teamwork and cooperation between him and Avinash. As a result, we never had a situation where things were falling between the cracks.

Vishram has multiple characteristics, it’s a space where all the rooms are interconnected with the line of sight. It’s got a very simple and understated and has a very small set of materials which have been used throughout the house. We have moved the exterior facade look inside the house to make it a very seamless experience. There is a lot of greenery around the house and the portico around the house is an extension of the living space and that interaction is livening up the house. Vishram is fully automated with all the modern amenities and utilities required for a comfortable living.

“Vishram” is now complete, and it has far exceeded our expectations in terms of what we set out to achieve. At the same time the outcome is very much what we had envisioned and it’s a space which we now call our home.
